ingredient:- 125g butter, very soft 175g plain white flour, sifted, plus extra to dust 50g caster sugar 1/2 tsp vanilla extract milk 18 coloured boiled sweets
Method:- 1. Line three baking sheets with non-stick baking parchment. Put the butter, flour, sugar and vanilla extract in a bowl and bring together with a fork or wooden spoon to form a dough - add a drop of milk if the mixture looks too dry. Turn out on to a floured worksurface and knead briefly to bring the dough together. Wrap in clingfilm and chill for 30 minutes.
2. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (160°C for fan oven) . Roll out the dough until it is about 3mm thick ( sprinkle the surface of the dough with flour if it starts to stick). Using novelty biscuit cutters, cut out the different shapes and arrange on the baking sheets. Using small cutters , cit a shape from the middle of each biscuit and put a sweet in each hole.
3. Bake for about 10-15 minutes until the biscuits are pale golden brown and the sweets have melted. Leave to set for a minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
